Summary: Got to know more than I did!
Comment: I bought these rolling pin rings for my wife, and didn't realize that they aren't supposed to "stretch" to fit a variety of rolling pins. Now, I have to find a proper size rolling pin to match the rings, since (of course) they don't fit the rolling pins she already has. Murphy's Law.

Comment: These are great for getting the depth of the dough consistent for all cookies or pies. It makes rolling out the dough so much easier.

Summary: Ring Quandary
Comment: I purchased the ring sets several years ago. Although my colors are different, the product description is precisely the same. I cannot figure out what one reviwer was talking about when he complained that the rings won't roll dough true to depth. If we have the same product, even my smallest ring set slides up and down a 1 1/2 inch diameter straight pin. A 2 inch pin is the minimum circumference needed so the largest ring set doesn't just slide up & down too because the interior circumference of the largest ring set is just shy of 2 inches. This means on a 2 inch pin, the largest ring set will hold the pin off a flat surface outside the area where the dough is being rolled just about 3/8 of an inch. The reason I rate the ring set 4 stars & not five is because they CLAIM to fit pins 1-4" but based on my 1 1/2 pin being too small to hold even the smallest ring set, I cannot see how anything under 2" will work.

Summary: Rings adequate to the job- but beware!
Comment: These rings fit on a 1" rolling pin and as well stretch to fit a 3" rolling pin (the ad claims up to 4"- but that would be stretching it a bit.) The stretchiness means that the bigger in diameter your rolling pin- the thinner the dough for a given set of rings.

These rings only produce accurate thickness results as stated in the ad if used on on a 1" diameter rolling pin.

The dimensions stated in the ad are Set of 4 pairs: 1/16" (red), 1/8" (yellow), 1/4" (green), and 3/8" (blue) thicknesses.

On anything over a 1" rolling pin, they produce uniform sheets of dough- but not at the thickness indicated on the bag. On my 3" rolling pin the yellow rings gave me a hair under 1/16" -not the 1/8" you might expect from the ad.

Luckily all i needed these for was "additional" thickness for my 3" pin which already had a couple of older rings on them (I stacked the rings).

I can now turn out a neat 3/32" cracker without too much problem.

Also seems a bit pricey for what are essentially large elastic bands- but then I couldn't find what I needed anywhere else!

Comment: I really enjoy the the ease of getting the cookie dough to be 1/4 inch thick or the other sizes that come in the set. It makes rolling dough a lot easier.

Editorial Reviews:

Roll dough to the perfect thickness for cookies, pie crusts, puff pastry, and biscuits. Select the appropriate pair of rubber rings, slide one ring on each end of your rolling pin, and start rolling. The rubber rings will keep the rolling pin a consistent height above the surface, so your dough is rolled to the exact thickness required.
Set of 4 pairs: 1/16" (red), 1/8" (yellow), 1/4" (green), and 3/8" (blue) thicknesses.
Fits rolling pins 1½" - 4"Dia; 3/8" thick rings fit rolling pins 1-7/8" - 3"Dia.
