Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect condition Comment: I just received my Staub Cocotte and it arrived in perfect condition. It's really a thing of beauty! Although I haven't cooked in it yet (and I'll amend this review after I do), I was very pleased with the packaging and the condition.
Review Update: Now that I've used this Cocotte, I am even more delighted with it. Wonderful heat retention, evenly heated surface, and a striking appearance to boot. This baby is heavy, but that is the nature of enameled cast iron. I am well pleased with the cooking performance of this pot.
Customer Rating: Summary: Limited Edition Comment: Just received this 5.5 qt. cocotte. It arrived in perfect condition and is beautiful. It must be the color that makes this a "limited edition" as they have retired eggplant. This price is by far the best I have found anywhere. The suggested retail is about what you will pay anywhere else. Excellent product made in France with much of the labor done by hand. Comes with several recipies from well known chefs to get you inspired. Enjoy!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic deal and a gorgeous cocotte! Comment: This is my very first review here on amazon. Just wanted to share my thoughts with other potential buyers who are planning or are in two minds whether as to buy this cocotte or not, given the recent complaints from other customers.
I was initially very hesitant to place an order for this particular item since many reviewers indicated that they had recd defective/damaged cocottes with improper packaging. However, it was too much of an awesome deal to pass, and knowing amazon's generous refund/replacement policy, I decided to give it a try and boy, am I ecstatic that I finally ordered it!
I just recd the cocotte moments ago VERY securely packaged and with ZERO scratches anywhere on it, and believe me, I looked at every inch of the item!
So to those who are on the fence about purchasing this beauty: JUST DO IT!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: my mom's favorite Comment: I got this as a gift for my mom for mother's day because she's been wanting one for so long. She absolutely loves it. Uses it for everything from soups, to stews, to braising meat. She never understood the expense, but now that she has had a chance to use it, says she should have purchased this years ago - as it has replaced a few of her other pans. She appreciates the quality. The rooster on the lid is very handy to pick it up, better than a usual "button" handle.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good looking, functional cookware. Comment: I admit it. I bought this pot because of the handle that looks like a chicken. It's going to see a lot of use alongside my well-seasoned 5-qt Lodge, which is also wonderful, but not suited to acidic ingredients.
It arrived securely packed by Amazon, without a scratch or chip.

The 6-qt. oval Coq au Vin Dutch Oven is the ideal choice for slow-cooked beef stew or roasted chicken, with ample room for veggies, too. From the Alsace region, where one pot meals were a staple, it's designed for stovetop or oven, with a well-fitted lid to seal in flavor. Unique to Staub cookware is the top-notch, durable cast-iron melded perfectly with attractive enameled ceramic, plus a self-basting lid so there's no need to monitor contents. The heavy metal knob is oven safe to 600 degrees. Side handles make it easy to transport to the table, where it makes an attractive serving piece. Featured in Blue. From the Alsace region of France comes this incredibly striking yet resilient cookware by Staub. Made of cast iron and finished in rich shades of enameled ceramic, it originated with the round and oval Dutch oven, and has evolved into a complete line of cookware used by top chefs around the globe. Unique to Staub pots are the self-basting spikes, small peaks jutting from the lid underside that continuously redistribute juices as they collect during the cooking process. In addition, each piece is created in a unique sand mold and made of the finest raw materials available, fired repeatedly to last over generations of cooks. It won't discolor, warp or produce hotspots and never requires seasoning. The even heat distribution and lasting heat retention are what make it so desira
