Customer Rating: Summary: It's a winner! Comment: This is a very nice salt cellar. The lid swings back and forth perfectly, and it's nice to have storage for two different kinds of salt. It's on the large side, but it's worth the space.
Customer Rating: Summary: Looks and works beautifully Comment: What a quality product. The size of vessels are excellent. Also it is weighty so it will sit still on counter while you open it with one hand, very important when cooking
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Salt Cellar! Comment: I love my NEW Mario Batalli salt cellar! It holds a lot on the bottom section, for my coarse Kosher salt and the top part, I put my Grey salt or sea salt. The price for a wood salt cellar was really great, and it matches my wood pepper grinder. It keeps closed, when not in use. Has a great look in your kitchen.
Customer Rating: Summary: Useful Comment: I was looking for a simpler salt cellar, but found this two compartment one and decided to give it a try. It's a great price for a good item. The wood isn't as high quality as I would have liked, but for the price, I can't complain. The wood has a bit of a rough finish to it. It's not perfectly smooth. But it still looks and feels great.
My only complaint would be that it's a bit too heavy and unwieldy to operate by picking it up with one hand. While manuevering a pinch of salt from the cellar to your food isn't something that requires a licensed degree to perform, it is kind of annoying sometimes if I drop a few crystals along the way. A more mobile cellar might help to avoid this very minor problem. Just something to think about depending on your preferences.
The bottom is almost half all wood. I assume it's this way to create more weight and lower it's center of gravity. When you take the top compartment and swing it 180 degrees around so it's hanging out over the edge, the cellar can become minorly unstable. You definitely don't want to keep it in this position and accidentally bump it. Open it, use it, close it.
Looks great out on the counter and is overall very useful.
Customer Rating: Summary: Original design Comment: Original design,sturdy...bigger and nicer than what I expected.I wish it had come with instruction on how to clean it or maintain it.
But defenitively a beautiful object for my kitchen.
